We assess the unit requirement against the Biodiversity Metric, consider habitat type, location and trading rules, and guide developers, landowners and planning professionals through the allocation process from initial enquiry to completion.
Not every development needs a full biodiversity unit. BNG units can be purchased in increments of 0.01, helping you secure the amount identified within your Biodiversity Metric without buying more than your project requires.
For example, 0.01 grassland units may cost from £716.80. A typical smaller requirement of 0.03 units may cost around £1,170.40.
The price does not rise at a simple unit-by-unit rate, as each purchase includes fixed administration costs. These may cover the allocation agreement and the registration of the units with Defra.
Final pricing will depend on the habitat type, quantity required, development location and current availability.
